About BrushCatalog
An independent catalog of brushes for Procreate, Photoshop, Clip Studio Paint & Krita, sorted by the mark they make.
BrushCatalog collects free and paid brush sets from across the web: author shops on Gumroad, the Procreate Folio community, Creative Market, Clip Studio Assets and other marketplaces. Each set is filed under the app it runs in and the kind of mark it makes, so the right brush is a few clicks away.
Every set is filed under the app (or apps) it actually runs in, so a search for Photoshop brushes never returns an iPad-only .brushset. Some formats travel: a Photoshop .abr pack imports into Procreate and Krita as well, and those packs are listed under each app they work in.
Commercial brushes are never re-hosted here. Every "Get this brush" link leads to the author's page, where the file is downloaded on the author's own terms. The curated section is the only exception: it holds packs published by their authors under open licenses (CC0, CC-BY and similar), hosted here with full attribution.
How the catalog is put together
New sets are collected once a day from the public listings of the marketplaces and communities named above, and from links that authors send in. A set is added when its page is live and says which app and file format it is for.
A set gets a page of its own only when there is something to read on it: the author's description, shown as a quotation with its source, and the facts we could verify. Sets we know too little about stay in the listings and link straight to the author.
What the numbers mean
Ratings, sales, downloads and favorites on a brush page are the figures the set's own source page shows in public, copied as they are, together with the date we last checked them. They are not BrushCatalog reviews. The top 10 lists are ordered by those same figures, with no more than two sets per author, and nobody can pay for a place in them.
"Free" means the author offered the set at no charge, or on a pay-what-you-want basis starting at zero, when we last checked. The price and the license are always the author's: read the terms on the author's page before using a set in commercial work.
Links and money
Links to authors' pages are plain links. They carry no affiliate or referral codes, and BrushCatalog earns nothing when a set is downloaded or bought.
Corrections
If a set is filed under the wrong app, a price is out of date, or you are the author and want a listing changed or removed, write to nika@brushcatalog.com.
Installing brushes
How to install brushes in Procreate (.brushset / .brush)
- Download the brush file — .brushset (a whole set) or .brush (a single brush).
- On your iPad, open the file in the Files app and tap it — Procreate opens and imports the set automatically.
- Alternatively, in Procreate open the Brush Library, tap + → Import, and pick the downloaded file.
- Photoshop .abr packs import into Procreate the same way.
- If the pack came zipped, unzip it in the Files app first, then tap the brush files inside.
How to install brushes in Photoshop (.abr)
- Download the .abr file (unzip the pack first if it arrived as an archive).
- In Photoshop open Window → Brushes to show the Brushes panel.
- Open the panel menu (the ≡ icon in its top-right corner) and choose Import Brushes…, then pick the .abr file.
- On desktop you can also simply double-click the .abr file — Photoshop loads it into the panel.
How to install brushes in Clip Studio Paint (.sut)
- Download the .sut file (Clip Studio's sub tool format); unzip the pack if needed.
- Drag the .sut file straight onto the Sub Tool palette — it lands in the group you drop it on.
- Or use the Sub Tool palette menu → Import Sub Tool… and pick the file.
- Packs downloaded from Clip Studio Assets install through the app's own Manage materials screen.
How to install brushes in Krita (.bundle / .kpp)
- Download the .bundle (a full resource pack) or the individual .kpp presets.
- For a bundle: Settings → Manage Resources… → Import Bundles, pick the .bundle, then make sure it is active.
- For loose presets: open the Brush Presets docker and use Import Resources.
- Photoshop .abr brush tips import into Krita too, via the same Manage Resources screen.
